Step 1: Schedule an Interview
The first step in this process is to schedule an interview with The Literacy Council staff. This interview helps our staff get to know our clients and to help build confidence and a connection to our staff.
Step 2: Assessment
It is important for our staff to understand the individuals unique needs and what we can provide. To effectively and efficiently help students, we do require certain assessments to determine need. These assessments are not pass or fail, they simply help our staff know how to best serve our clients.
Step 3: Setting Goals
Setting goals is an essential step for all of our clients. Whether its simply to improve reading comprehension or as advanced as getting a new job or returning to school, we want our clients to feel they have made progress toward their goals.
Step 4: Meet with a Literacy Council Tutor
Meeting with a tutor is essential. Our staff of dedicated individuals have chosen to help our clients reach their goals. Tutors can meet at various times through the week and day. We will schedule our clients sessions around schedule conflicts (such as work and family).
